Artistic Staff
Timothy Gillham, Artistic Director
Founder
and Artistic Director of the Richmond Men’s Chorus, Mr. Gillham
has degrees from the University of Central Arkansas, and has done
post-graduate work at Old Dominion Universisty and Virginia Polytechnic
University. He taught in public and private schools in Arkansas
and Virginia. His choirs received superior ratings at regional,
state and national festivals, have performed with Debbye Turner
(Miss America 1990), Marlo and Danny Thomas in a nationally distributed
St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital video, and won the North
American Music Festival.
Mr. Gillham has been on staff at Richard Bland College, where
he directed the Petersburg Festival Chorus. Mr Gillham also directed
the Richmond Choral Sociey and The Society Singers, which performed
under his direction at Washington National Cathedral and for the
American Choral Directors Association.
Mr. Gillham is active as an adjudicator and arranger. He served
as organizer for the Alexander Paley Music Festival, and has prepared
the Paley Festival Chorus in 2000 and 2001. He is also a Member
of Phi Mu Alpha Professional Music Fraternity and American Choral
Directors Association. He is involved in Richmond’s theater
scene as a musical director and performer for Richmond Triangle
Players, On The Air Radio Players at WCVE, Henrico Theater Company,
Dogwood Dell and The Landmark Theater.
Steve Austin, Accompanist
Mr.
Austin has been the chorus’ accompanist since its inception.
During his early years in Richmond, he accompanied several school
choral groups at George Wythe High School and studied piano with
Alphonse Gagne and Maude Bridgeman Stevens. He attended VCU and
studied piano with Vera Lendvay and electronic music with Dr. Loran
Carrier. In 1980, Steve relocated to Surry, Virginia, where he
became active with community choral activities, also serving as
accompanist for The Generations II of Wakefield.
Steve served as accompanist for the Petersburg Festival Chorus
from 1994 to 1997. After moving back to Richmond in the fall of
1994, he sang bass and was pianist for the Society Singers. He
has also provided piano, midi mixing, and sound design for Richmond
Triangle Players and Henrico Theatre Company productions.

The Richmond Men's Chorus is governed by Monument City Music Productions,
Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization.
